One of the big frustrations of events is that they take so long to plan, prepare and organize, but are often over in a day or two. It is common for event planners to find themselves at the end of an event dazed and thinking, "Is that it?"
The great news with online and hybrid events is that the impact of your gathering can be stretched out over several months. This represents a larger opportunity for ROI, without having to invest a great deal of extra time or effort. Beyond just making your content available on-demand, here are a few ways to rethink your event lifespan and even make some extra revenue from it:
Podcast
With a fairly minimal effort, you could strip the audio from the conference sessions and then collate a new podcast or, at the very least, create additional content for your existing podcast. This is a great way to reuse content and expand the reach of your audience.?
Highlights Reel
Another option is to collect the best bits of a two- or three-day conference and distill them down into an eye-catching highlights real. This can take some effort, but is a great value-add for attendees. The highlights real can be shared across social media and used as promotion for your next event.
Three-Month Review
Many of us go to events and think, "Wow, these are amazing ideas," only to find ourselves several months later not having implemented them. So, why not create a three-month implementation check? This online session would bring attendees back together to share what they have done since they event, what shortcuts to success they have learned in the process and what they plan to do in the future.
This session would serve as a reminder of the great topics covered at the event, inspire attendees to take action and remind people how good the gathering was. It might be even an opportunity to get people to register for the next one.
Keynote Update Power Session
Consider having your keynote or panel speakers give an update on their presentations a few months after the event. This could be an hour-long webinar with time for Q&A ,or a quick 15-minute, unscripted power session on what has changed since the meeting and what this means for the industry. It's a great way to stay up to date and to get people to revisit the original keynote, again getting extra value from it.?
